I am the Lord, your Healer

Exodus 15:26

I suffered a head injury when my grandson’s hang board fell on me. I had forgotten it was there and pushed his door open slightly to bring him some food. He is recovering from a fractured knee due to boulder climbing and has difficulty walking to get food and so I deliver! Pushing the door open a tiny bit was all it took and bang – the hang board hit me on the head and I hit the ground. A bump the size of half a ping pong ball sprang up. So now both of us are injured and limited in our activities.

Fortunately, I only had a minor concussion but the symptoms of loss of balance, blurred vision, sluggishness and the pain were difficult to endure. I had things to do, places to go, I didn’t have time for an injury, neither did my grandson. And yet.

While recovering, I listened to several sermons and a line from Daniel Kolenda really resonated with me. He said that just because something is real does not mean it is final.

What my grandson and I are going through is real. But praise God, it is not final! God has the final say and He says we are healed by the stripes of Jesus and He is the Lord our healer.

Whatever hardship has come your way, no doubt it is real. But by God’s grace it is not final.

Daniel Kolenda referenced the cross and the tomb as examples of real vs final. Both the cross and the tomb were real, but they were not final!

This head injury is real but it is not final.

My grandson’s fractured knee is real but it is not final.

Healing is ours! And yours!

Thank you, Father, for providing for our healing through the sacrifice of Your Son. I am so grateful that the pain and limitations we are experiencing are not final. How great is Your love for us! Help us to receive and walk in that grace and love and thank You for a day of deliverance from this pain, in the name of Jesus, amen.
