If you don’t know what you’re doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You’ll get his help, and won’t be condescended to when you ask for it. Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought. People who “worry their prayers” are like wind-whipped waves. Don’t think you’re going to get anything from the Master that way, adrift at sea, keeping all your options open.
James 1:8-9 MSG
I like how the Message Bible puts this. Other versions refer to this as being a double minded man.
I believe in divine healing. I believe it is for today, for you and for me. And yet. You know where I am going with this. We all know someone (maybe even ourselves) who didn’t receive the healing they were believing for. We have heard the reasons offered – not enough faith or there’s sin in their life.
I have come to realize that for me, sometimes, these thoughts creep into my mind as I am waiting for a healing. I don’t question is it God’s will, I question have I got enough faith? Is there sin in my life? This kind of thinking causes second thoughts in me. Thoughts that don’t line up with the word of God. Thoughts that cause me to be a double minded man or woman as the case may be. Thoughts that draw my attention away from the simplicity of the word.
This verse says Ask. Ask boldly. Believe. Have no second thoughts.
If I take this to heart, I will stop asking the questions about why some are healed and some are not. I will stop questioning what am I doing or not doing that is stopping my healing from manifesting in my life. I will instead, keep my focus on the One who calls Himself Jehovah Rapha, the Lord our Healer.
I chose to be a single minded person not a double minded person. How about you?
Gracious Heavenly Father, forgive me for the times I have second guessed Your word, Your love for me, Your grace and Your provision for me. Help me move forward to be a single minded child of Yours, keeping my focus on You and Your word and help me to leave speculation behind. In the name of Jesus, I ask, amen.
