Parting Words

And He (Jesus) said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation…  And these signs shall accompany those who believed; in My name they will … lay hands on the sick and they will recover.”  Matthew 16:18 These were Jesus’ parting words to His disciples.  Some have called this the Believer’s Bill of Rights.  I recently left my son in Montana to stay with his sister for two weeks.  Even though I would see him soon and we had phones, I still wanted to have good, loving, wise parting words.  I didn’t really have any, but I thought … Continue reading Parting Words

No Healing Too Difficult for God

“I am the Lord. I am the God of all people. Is anything too difficult for me?” Jeremiah 32:27 Some years back in our homeschool journey, we studied Mohs Hardness Scale. This scale is used to identify mineral specimens by comparing their hardness to the ten minerals on the scale. Talc is the least hard with diamonds being the hardest and knife-blades and fingernails and copper pennies and other minerals falling somewhere in between. A scale like this apparently works for mineral identification but it made me realize that I have a tendency to put God’s ability to perform a … Continue reading No Healing Too Difficult for God

Speak to Your Mountain

…”Have faith in God. Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea.’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it shall be granted him.  Mark 11:23 Jesus is speaking here. Peter had just pointed out to Him that the fig tree which Jesus cursed the day before had withered. This, perhaps, left Peter a bit confused but Jesus knew it would wither the moment He cursed it.  The evidence wasn’t clear to all until the next morning. Jesus responded to … Continue reading Speak to Your Mountain

Watch Those Promises

Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my Word to perform it”.  Jeremiah 1:12 God doesn’t give His word lightly.  He doesn’t make promises and then change His mind.  I have learned the hard way how difficult it can be to keep promises.  My son reminds me from time to time of promises I’ve made that have slipped my mind.  They don’t slip his mind, let me tell you.  He watches over my words to see me perform them.  I am held accountable for what I promised, and I have learned not … Continue reading Watch Those Promises

Peter Walks on Water

Peter responded and said to Him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to You on the water.” And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water, and came toward Jesus.  But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and when he began to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”  Immediately Jesus reached out with His hand and took hold of him, and *said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” Matthew 14: 21-28 Peter and the disciples with him were following Jesus’ instructions. They were told to get in the boat and … Continue reading Peter Walks on Water

Faith Comes by Hearing

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17 Every healing Jesus provided in the New Testament had one common piece. Even though the method changed this piece was present, either in the individual in need of healing or those around him.  And that element was faith!  Faith is simply believing the words of Jesus. If He said it, He meant it, if He meant it, it must be true. Our job is to settle the issue in our heart.   So the obvious next question would be – how do I build my faith?   … Continue reading Faith Comes by Hearing

Everything Is All Right

When he saw her in the distance, the man of God said to his servant Gehazi, “Look! There’s the Shunammite!  Run to meet her and ask her, ‘Are you all right? Is your husband all right? Is your child all right?’” “Everything is all right,” she said. II Kings 4: 25-26 Her son had just died. The son the prophet of God (Elisha) had told her she would have even though she wasn’t even asking for one and she begged him not to get her hopes up. But, she became pregnant and gave birth to a son just as promised. … Continue reading Everything Is All Right

God’s Word is Medicine

My son, pay attention to what I say;    turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight,    keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them    and health to one’s whole body. Proverbs 4: 20-22 Faith for healing can waiver. We may start out strong in faith but as time goes by and the healing hasn’t manifested, our hope can waiver. Whether we are in need of physical healing or emotional or mental healing, God has promised to make us whole. We may believe that it is God’s will to heal us but resting in that … Continue reading God’s Word is Medicine

Healing in Communion

For anyone who eats and drinks (the Lord’s supper) without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.  That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep.  I Corinthians 11:29-30 Most of the time when I have taken communion, the message preceding it has been about the forgiveness of my sins.  I only recently came to see this in a different light.  Jesus said we are to take the bread and the wine in remembrance of Him.  We are to remember what His sacrifice was all about … Continue reading Healing in Communion

Jesus Heals for Free

You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good, and healing all who were oppressed by the devil; for God was with Him. Acts 10:38 Jesus went about doing good – healing people from all manner of sickness and delivering them from the oppression of the devil. All one has to do is read through the gospels to see this. And to also see that He never asked for a co-pay or a tithe or an offering. The healing He provided would require a payment but not from … Continue reading Jesus Heals for Free
