Speak to Your Mountains: Faith in Action

…”Have faith in God. Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea.’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it shall be granted him.

Mark 11:23

Jesus is speaking here. Peter had just pointed out to Him that the fig tree which Jesus cursed the day before had withered. This, perhaps, left Peter a bit confused but Jesus knew it would wither the moment He cursed it.  The evidence wasn’t clear to all until the next morning.

Jesus responded to Peter with the admonition to speak, in faith, to the mountain and does not doubt in his heart, will see mountains cast into the sea.  That’s hard for me to imagine, however a few days ago, I witnessed it happen in my own life.

I had COVID and was recovering well except for the congestion and cough which was intolerable. I was reminded of this verse and with all the faith I could muster up, I spoke to the congestion and cough and within a couple of minutes, they were both gone!  Prior to this, on a scale of 1-10 in terms of severity of the symptoms, I would have given them a 15 but in a matter of moments, they were gone!

Billy Joe Daughterty once said, “Speaking to the mountain is not a superstitious exercise. If our faith is in God and in alignment with His will and His word it becomes an applied release of God’s creative word of promise.”

The symptoms tried to come back but I just repeated over and over -mountain of congestion and cough you must go in Jesus’s name. And they did go!

Whatever the mountain is in our life that is blocking the expressed will of God from manifesting in our life must go. We have been given the authority to command it to do so. But we have to believe without doubting! Sometimes easier said than done, but if we keep our focus on Jesus and His word, and speak in faith, we will see the mountains obey!

Heavenly Father, I praise You that You did not leave me here to navigate life on my own, but You sent Jesus to set me free, the Holy Spirit to comfort and guide me and Your word to teach me. Help me please to walk in light of Your truths and to exercise the authority You have given me over the mountains that try to hinder my walk, in Jesus’ name, amen.
